Lots of work to do...

I've been working on this piece for quite a while..I've been quite motivated to get it done (and done well)..I'm really happy with how it came out. I've also been getting all my pieces together to touch up (if necessary) and then some more.....just keeping myself productive. I'm on a mission! More to come soon!

Lights

ahh I've kind of been on hiatus here for a while, I know. Took some time to explore and get inspired by things. I recently took a trip out of the country to just relax and help out a friend.....and now I'm back and motivated...ready to draw up new ideas!

I'm currently working on fixing up my portfolio..and this piece is one that I'm currently working on. She is a musical artist known as Lights. I still need to work on the color and lighting.

Another Color Study

Another color study I'm working on. I've loved this picture from the National Geographic cover for a long time because it's so striking..so I thought I'd paint her as well..another skin tone to play with.. :)

Color Study

I just decided I'd do a color study late last night (of Milo Ventimiglia)..skin tones are still hard for me from time to time..especially with a digital program like Painter so I thought I'd play around with the colors. I think I'll work on this some more..this was from a photo I wanted to draw a long time ago but couldn't get the features on this guy right.

Old pencil drawing of a singer, Jenny Lewis, that I did. It's from a magazine.. and I really loved the way the photograph looked.

Acrylic Days

This was back when I worked with acrylic paint more. It was the first paint medium i really worked with and really liked (until I discovered oil, haha). I did this painting of Chris Carrabba for my friend who really liked the band Dashboard Confessional.

Finished...?

I'm very pleased with how this project ended up coming out. I may just go in and do some very minor detail changes but I'm really happy with the results. Took me a while to figure out skin tones.

Work in Progress

Still working on this project, among many others at the moment. It's coming along nicely so far. :)

Day of the Dead..er...Undead

Current class project. I had been studying the amazing work of Sylvia Ji for a while so when the opportunity to do a self portrait came up, I really wanted to try my hand at the kind of style she has. She does all Dia De Los Muertes kind of oil paintings and I just love it. This is my color study that I have for the project so far.

Work in Progress

Still currently working on this piece. I'm working on the details at the moment, and in a bit I will be detailing the background. It's all coming out nicely I think. I'm excited to see how it'll look when I'm finished.

Cotton Candy Delights

This is the sketch I have so far for a project I'm doing at the moment for class. The concept we're doing for class is "falling", and for my composition I'm going to have cotton candy falling from fluffy clouds in the skies. It took me a while to get the figures and facial expressions down but I'm excited for how it'll come out. I'll post more as my work progresses.

In Class Exercise

A character I came up with in class two weeks ago during an in-class exercise. Kind of a silly looking character but I had fun with it and it sparked the idea for the bottom scene.

Finished Drawings

I finally finished these two drawings that two of my coworkers had requested. Top drawing was done with micron pens and rapiograph pens (again, original Venom art was created digitally by John Tsai.). Second drawing was detailed with charcoal pencils.

Venom

Current new side project, Venom, requested by a friend. (A copy of original artwork done by Francis Tsai, his take on Venom- done digitally..google it! It's amazing.) I have it sketched out and I'm shading in the shadows right now. The final product will be inked. I'm excited to see how it'll come out.

The Gummy Bear "Battle".

A side project I have been working on for my special studies illustration class along with a children's story (not related to this). I've been using color pencils for this, trying to slowly bump up the contrast and the color. I may do some of it in painter..depending on how I feel about it later. It's hard to create that transparent look that gummy candy seems to have, but I'm liking how its coming out and it is pretty fun to do. I'll post more on this when it is more completed.

Self Portrait

I felt like drawing something today so I sat down on the floor of my room (where all my great ideas seem to come from) and came up with this. I haven't done a self portrait in quite a while. Not bad, I think.

Poseidon's Lair

Another project for class. I struggled with it for over a week over the composition and what to put in the piece. I thought I'd go with a more colorful color palette and make it a bit more fun looking and whimsical. I just realized after looking at it a few times..maybe it looks too cute to be Poseidon's lair?

Class work

A painting I've been working on for my advanced digital painting class. Still in progress. I'm happy my composition turned out the way I originally planned, since I'm sure most of you know, a lot of times what you imagine isn't what you can get onto paper (for whatever reason).

Current side project- A portrait of my coworker's daughter per her request.

Another project

I had a friend ask me to create a design for his guitar, so this is how it came out! I was very pleased with the results.

Design was transferred onto the guitar using charcoal pencils with the good ol' cover the back of a design (on paper) with charcoal, slap on design and trace method.

Finished!

The finished product! I added in all the final details a couple weeks ago and delivered it to my friend last night as a birthday gift.

Mini Project.

Currently working on a painting for a friend. Painting a copy of Rodolfo Migliari's Rogue (and Gambit) from X-Men.
